Beginning principles and poses progressing through various themes, deepening releases with variations, and application to function
Fridays: 11:15 AM - 12:30 PM
Class themes including home practice, lower spine release, upper spine release and abdominals, with instruction regarding bassic Svaroopa principles

This style of yoga is gentle and supported, using a sequence of exercises for positional release of connective tissue tensions caused by excessive sympathetic nervous system activity. These tensions compress and misalign the body with resultant decreased awareness and neuromotor control, and efficiency of movement.

Principles Include:

  1. Support equals release. Increased performance, competition, and increased effort are discouraged.
  2. Weightbearing into the bones facilitate release.
  3. Sequence is significant. Exercises begin at the bottom of the spine and move upward.
  4. Neuromotor control of breath and the abdominal muscles are emphasized.
